Team Meeting - Ideas for Case Studies

We discussed what ideas would be ideal for our CD cover relating closely to our music video and we then searched for already existing CD covers that include some of the main features that we are looking for such as projections. These are some of the covers that we came up with to use as case studies:

Editing - Time Lapse

We had filmed our model in front of a green screen as we have been trying to create this double exposure effect. Me and Aa'ishah ended up leaving it to Eyerusalem to figure out as all of us doing it was taking up too much of our editing time. Today, Eyerusalem finally figured out how to do it and we added it to the end of our music video.

Editing

This is around two weeks into our edited video. At this point, we have just added in all the relevant clips into their correct place. As you can see some clips have other clips on top of them but that is because we haven't chosen our best clips yet.

Filming: Studio - Projection

Today, we were in the studio again but we focussed on the projection element of our video. We used a black background and set up a projector right in front of the model. We connected a laptop to the projector and projected moving images that were meaningful to our music video such as fireworks or red roses blooming.

Filming - Studio

Today, whilst waiting for our model, we decided to focus on the elements of the video where she wasn't included. One of the things that we did was get a wine glass which contained water and added different food colouring drop by drop (green, yellow and red). Eyerusalem brought the food colouring and the glass, we both set up the scene and I was in charge of the filming. Aa'ishah was in charge of the music and took pictures so that we could blog.

Once our model arrived, Eyerusalem did her makeup whilst I set up the camera.

Filming - Leake Street

We planned on initially going to film in the studio at college to start some of the projection parts. However, there was no one to open the studio for us so we decided to start on our location shoots. I brought my own camera and SD card to do the filming with and we used the smoke bombs that we all contributed in buying.

The Infinite Mix

Today, we went to see The Infinite Mix exhibition and saw a variety of work at The Hayward Gallery.

Martin Creed - Work No. 1701 (2013)
This was the first piece what I saw which consisted of people crossing the road in various ways. As it was the first room that you enter, it takes you quite a while to understand what is going on. I think that the fact that everyone is completing the same action but in different ways was to show how everyone is unique.
Jeremy Deller & Cecilia Bengolea - Bom Bom’s Dream (2016)

This was the funniest piece for me due to it's main character Bom Bom.
She danced to a lot of bashment music and there were points where CGI and a green screen were used as she was dancing on clouds and with a chameleon.

Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster - OPERA (QM.15) (2016)
This was one of the last pieces that I saw and it was the one that stood out the most to me. This was due to that fact that it was a simple projection of a woman but it looked so realistic. It made the woman look as if she was floating and for the longest while I actually believed that it was a real woman

Overall, I really enjoyed this exhibition and it has given me a lot of abstract ideas for what I can use in my own work.
